VALUE ADDITION TO GROUPS

VALUE ADDITION TO GROUPS:
Through NGAAF we have been able to quickly come up with initiatives that economically empower affirmative groups by supporting them in their own various requests (provided they are allowed in the regulations).  The requests are done in the form of proposals which are put together by the group supported by the County Committee and then taken to Nairobi for approval by the NGAAF National Board.  Most of the groups have come up with innovative ideas that will quickly empower them and give them some financial muscle.  Most of the groups that sent in their requests have already gotten support and most of them had for example requested for catering equipment, bee keeping, brick making machine (makiga), fish farming (fish cages), goat and pig rearing, poultry, plastic chairs, tents, greenhouse, table banking, public address, posho mills, computer cybe, car wash machines, Power saw and video camera support. Through this support by the office the groups quickly plough in the money back to the group and they are slowly but surely economically empowering themselves.  The first criteria however is the group should be having an active table banking in place. Over 200 groups have been supported to date.

EMERGENCY SUPPORT:
We have very many emergency requests that come in through the office. Some of them include houses that get burnt, floods among others.  In 2016 for example, we supported some HHs in Angenga Nanguba ward with iron sheets, blankets and assorted foodstuff when they were hit by strong winds. We also gave a similar support to Musoma area HHs who had been hit by the floods during the same time. In 2017, we recently supported Tingolo Primary School with iron sheets after the roof was blown away by winds.  We have supported many people whose houses got burnt with iron sheets, we have supported schools with feeding programmes among others. We have supported many many emergencies that cannot all be put here and will continue to do so as and when they arise and with quick availability of funds.

PERSONAL INITIATIVE:
I have a personal initiative that started way back in 2013, whereby I help the very needy elderly, People Living Positive (widows) whose houses are in inhabitable conditions. I normally buy for such a household 20 iron sheets then the community supports with the rest. We have so far built over 80 houses and slowly and progressively we are supporting the requests on the long list.
